About Pat Traufield
When first living with cats and dogs I made almost every mistake possible, resulting in many common behavior problems. The desire to have a happy relationship with my pets motivated me to learn the truth about cats and dogs. After developing successful and joyful relationships with my pets I began working with companion animals. I have worked with cats and dogs in boarding and breeding facilities, as a groomer and in humane society animal shelters, including six years of animal behavior counseling. I really love helping pet owners enjoy their pets more and have a happier life as much as I like helping the pets have a better life.
I currently live with 2 cats and 2 dogs.  When they have behavior problems or I am unclear about a major decision I often consult with my peers, and have even worked with a pet psychic (if you need a pet communicator I can give you her name and number).

What patrons have said -

Thanks to Pat - frequent urination on daughters bed/crib. We began playing with her in the room and petting her while she was on my daughters bed - all suggestions by Pat suspecting territorial marking. I believe she was right! Thank you for helping us keep out cat - a very lovely, affectionate, friendly and tolerant cat. - Lisa C.

Turns out it was jealousy/territorial issues! Once you alerted us to the 'stare down:' I began to notice that Calvin was staring down Ra. We were so worried about Ra having claws and being bigger that it never occurred to us that it would be Calvin who was pushing around Ra. Calvin is still not thrilled when Ra gets on the bed when Calvin is up there. Ra is not hiding under the couch any more. No more litter box accidents either. Thank you so much for your help. - Jennifer J.

Kitty did have giardia. It lasted about 2 weeks, but I nursed him back. It was like having a baby all over again! Your tips helped a lot. He loves Da Bird. - Sue S.

Pat was an excellent counselor, she is a very knowledgeable regarding pets and owners. She is kind and compassionate person who cares about pets and their owners! Suzanne S.

Topper has gotten used to sleeping outside the bedroom, except on weekends when he doesn't want to sleep in. Thanks for your helps - it's always nice to get reassurance. - Kelly C.

I can't thank you enough. We recently adopted a dog and he is such a wonderful part of our family. Our cat, we rescued from a barn known to have coyotes all around. We are very responsible pet owners and wants to do what it takes to take care of all our pets. Your help enabled us to keep the dog and the cat. Thank you! - Dawn K.

I can't thank you enough for the time you spent with me this morning. If Kody could talk, he too would be most grateful. Your caring insights, your ability to sympathize, empathize and listen to me felt like a huge burden lifted from my shoulders. You were able to put what happened into perspective and you gave me a different perception of not only my needs, but Kody's. With your help I am at peace with my decision to allow Kody to live out his days - however long or short - in the comfort of familiar territory with the one person he has always trusted - me. Thanks to you I can trust my instincts with Kody - my confidence was so damaged. Should you ever need a friend I would be honored to return your loving presence. - Francie D
